The Sound of Music!

The movie I watched this week was "The Sound of Music". It was a great movie with alot of turns I never expected. The main actor that I really only knew was Julie Andrews she is in alot of movies like Mary Poppins and the Princess Diaries. Main Characters in this film are Captain Von Trapp, his seven kids, and Maria. In the beginning the main conflict is that Maria who is a nun keeps bending the rules. Then finally the mother of the place she is being confined tells her to go venture out and see if it's really the life that she wants to live. Maria finds a job teaching the Von Trapp family, the father is strict and has pride in his country (Austria). Maria loosened up the childrens strict military attitude and little by little they started to love her more. Then she realizes she is in love with Mr. Von Trapp and leaves to the mother of nuns leaving all her problems behind.. or so we think.
The plot of this film seems to be realistic but then again not so realistic. Realistic because she fell in love and helped crack the kids from there shell. But not realistic but I can't say why if I do I would spoil the movie. The dialouge in this movie is very proper, there were parts that I had to really listen to in order to understand but thats just how it was in the old days. The theme that I seen in this movie is to loosen up and be more of a loving person because when you are able to do that you are truly happy.Throughout the movie I guess the symbol that I seen most throughout this movie was music. They sang alot but then again it is a musical. If you don't like singing do not watch this movie!
The actors in this movie did a really good job with who they are suppose to be as far as roles, There were many time while I was watching the movie that I almost forgot it was a movie it was that good, well until they started to sing then I would remember. The set was mostly around the Von Trapp house which was a beautiful place. there was nothing to crazy about there makeup. I loved that in the movie Maria actually makes some of the costumes I think that is a clever idea for a movie.I think that the actors in this movie all around played there part and there is nothing that I would change about how it was made.
The director of this movie used alot of different techinuques in the beginning of the movie you see Maria on a mountain singing and the camera circles around Maria a few times and it is a really beautiful scene.Im not really to good with noticing the fade ins in older movie just because they are nothing compared to the movies that we see now a days in this movie the fade ins seemed quick and too the point there were a few that were slower but nothing crazy.I noticed that this film is all about music. It was actually a broadway musical I don't know if it was before of after the film was made but I did notice that there is alot of music used in this film.
The first thing that I noticed about this movie was the beautiful nature scenes that they used in this movie. I love to be outside and there were beautiful scenes that really caught my eye throughout the whole film.I was on the fence about this movie to be honest. I mean I know that it is good but I am just not the type of person that truly enjoys a good musical. I dont know I tried to enjoy and I loved the plot but it didn't do much for me.I don't think that I seen a movie that was quite like this before so it made it alot more interesting.I think AFI put this film on there top 100 because it is a good musical. I recommend this film to anyone who enjoys to hear a variety of songs throughout a movie. Other than that maybe someone who enjoys a romance.I would not recommend it to anyone who hates to listen to other people sing what they are trying to say throughout the whole film. Well thats my critique hopefully you enjoyed it. Hopefully you also enjoy knowing I wont be doing this much longer as well:)
