The movie I watched this week was "The Sound of Music". It was a great movie with alot of turns I never expected. The main actor that I really only knew was Julie Andrews she is in alot of movies like Mary Poppins and the Princess Diaries. Main Characters in this film are Captain Von Trapp, his seven kids, and Maria. In the beginning the main conflict is that Maria who is a nun keeps bending the rules. Then finally the mother of the place she is being confined tells her to go venture out and see if it's really the life that she wants to live. Maria finds a job teaching the Von Trapp family, the father is strict and has pride in his country (Austria). Maria loosened up the childrens strict military attitude and little by little they started to love her more. Then she realizes she is in love with Mr. Von Trapp and leaves to the mother of nuns leaving all her problems behind.. or so we think.
The plot of this film seems to be realistic but then again not so realistic. Realistic because she fell in love and helped crack the kids from there shell. But not realistic but I can't say why if I do I would spoil the movie. The dialouge in this movie is very proper, there were parts that I had to really listen to in order to understand but thats just how it was in the old days. The theme that I seen in this movie is to loosen up and be more of a loving person because when you are able to do that you are truly happy.Throughout the movie I guess the symbol that I seen most throughout this movie was music. They sang alot but then again it is a musical. If you don't like singing do not watch this movie!
The actors in this movie did a really good job with who they are suppose to be as far as roles, There were many time while I was watching the movie that I almost forgot it was a movie it was that good, well until they started to sing then I would remember. The set was mostly around the Von Trapp house which was a beautiful place. there was nothing to crazy about there makeup. I loved that in the movie Maria actually makes some of the costumes I think that is a clever idea for a movie.I think that the actors in this movie all around played there part and there is nothing that I would change about how it was made.
The director of this movie used alot of different techinuques in the beginning of the movie you see Maria on a mountain singing and the camera circles around Maria a few times and it is a really beautiful scene.Im not really to good with noticing the fade ins in older movie just because they are nothing compared to the movies that we see now a days in this movie the fade ins seemed quick and too the point there were a few that were slower but nothing crazy.I noticed that this film is all about music. It was actually a broadway musical I don't know if it was before of after the film was made but I did notice that there is alot of music used in this film.
The first thing that I noticed about this movie was the beautiful nature scenes that they used in this movie. I love to be outside and there were beautiful scenes that really caught my eye throughout the whole film.I was on the fence about this movie to be honest. I mean I know that it is good but I am just not the type of person that truly enjoys a good musical. I dont know I tried to enjoy and I loved the plot but it didn't do much for me.I don't think that I seen a movie that was quite like this before so it made it alot more interesting.I think AFI put this film on there top 100 because it is a good musical. I recommend this film to anyone who enjoys to hear a variety of songs throughout a movie. Other than that maybe someone who enjoys a romance.I would not recommend it to anyone who hates to listen to other people sing what they are trying to say throughout the whole film. Well thats my critique hopefully you enjoyed it. Hopefully you also enjoy knowing I wont be doing this much longer as well:)

Was it such a not movie day yesterday!( My Fair Lady)
The movie that I watched this week was My Fair Lady. I saw it a really long time ago and forget about what happend so watched it again.I'm happy I did watch it again to because I forget about all the crazy twist and turns. The director of this movie was George Cukor. The major actors in this movie are Audrey Hepburn(Eliza Doolittle),and Rex Harrison( Henry Higgins). The main conflict is trying to teach Eliza how to speak proper English, she came to Rex with only little money asking him to help her, little did he know that it was going to be such a vulger yet satisfying experience.
The plot of this story to me is highly unlikely to happen, the events that occur during the movie seem more like a fairy tale then a realistic film. The dialough was hilarious because Eliza had the worst accent yet Rex was so proper. I loved that during the movie. People definately use all different kinds of accent now a days so it was realistic dialouge. The theme of this movie is don't judge a book by its cover in many ways then just one. The glamorous life that many characters wanted in this film was nothing that they thought it would be. I just think the symbol of stand up for what you believe and do what you think you should do no matter who tells you what to do it a big part of this film.
The acting in this movie was awesome. I personally love Audrey Hepburn. She really nailed the part of a poor women with a horrible accent; and then transitioned nicely into a really proper well mannered women.Higgins also was a great actor in the movie as a snobby rich man. They were very belivable actors. The makeup, costumes, and set really contrasted a glamorous life to a less privledged one. It was great contrasting during the movie and it shows you that money doesn't always buy happiness.
As far as editing of the movie went I didn't really notice anything out of the usually well I watched the movie. The music in this movie was beautiful they had it really down and I think that at one time this was a musical before a movie. I am not too sure though..But the film really was directed tremendously. I know that this movie one alot of award and I can understand why it is on the A.F.I top 100 list.
The first thing that I noticed about the movie is the color. I'm not sure if its one of the first colored films around but you can tell by the filming that it is an old movie.I really started to like this film from the beggining usually I don't like a film till it really starts to pick up but for some reason I loved it.The movie reminded me of alot of other films that I seen before I'm not sure were I seen it but the plot just made me feel like I seen it before.AFI included this film in there list because it is an all american classic with great acting and amazing music.I recommended this film to anyone who loves a good old movie, because it really is a great classic.I don't recommend it to people who enjoy scifi films it would'nt really touch bases with what they are looking for. Thats my critic. I hope you enjoyed it.

To Kill a Mockingbird
The movie that I watched this week is “ To Kill a Mockingbird” which quite frankly has absolutely nothing to do with a bird. I didn’t really know much about this movie except that it was a book. The actually movie came out in 1962 . The main characters in this movie are Scout, Jem, and Dill. Scout is a tom girl who hates being a girl. She is even forced to wear a dress and gets really angry because of it. She is one tough cookie. Jem is her older, and Dill is Jems good friend.
The main conflict in this movie is that a black man named Tom has been accused of raping a white women. Now Jem and Scouts dad (Atticus Finch) has to defend the black guy in court. The problem with this is that segregation in Alabama is very strong. The jury pretty much consisted of all white people so the court was in the white women’s field. Even though the man is innocent nobody is going to believe him. This goes along with how Jem and Scout feel about Boo Radley a man that they no little about but make many assumptions on for example they are sure he is insane. By the end of the movie you will learn the moral of never judging anyone into you are actually in their shoes.
The plot of this story is realistic. I think that people are always going to judge someone when they first meet that’s just how life is but, in this film we start to take a second look as an audience to see if maybe we have had a faulty judgment in the past. The regional dialogue in this movie really makes it what it is, Atticus always says things that took me back and really made me think about what he was saying. His character in this film was phenomenal, he really nailed his part and seemed to always give everyone a chance. I love that the movie was in black and white and Maycomb, the town that they lived in was so laid back it didn’t seem like anything went wrong in this town.
The themes in this film are education and bravery. Throughout the film we learn that Atticus wants his kids to be knowledgeable and makes them read, also he always told his kids of issues that you wouldn’t think they would no about at such a young age. I think that Atticus just really stresses the theme of education onto his kids throughout the whole film. Bravery is also a major theme in the film because being able to stand up to a court of angry white people who hate that you are actually helping a black person shows how brave there father was. The whole idea of being educated on something you believe in is present throughout the film.
The editing for me was kind of blah just because I’m from a time of more advanced technology and black and white just doesn’t do it for me anymore. The shots in this movie were typically lengthy. The first thing that I noticed about this movie is Scout and how she wanted to be a boy. I think this is a perfect example of being comfortable in your own skin. I liked this movie right when it started, I didn’t lose focus and was attentive the whole time. This movie in a way reminds me of Green Mile just because both black men were wrongly accused of a crime. I think AFI put this film on their list, because its such a powerful movie, you really take something from this film in the end. I recommend this to anyone really, maybe not a little kid but, anyone can respect this movie and learn something from it.

Its a Wonderful Life.
So this is another black and white movie but, it was also a really good one. I can see myself watching this movie over and over again. The main characters in this movie is George Bailey, and his guardian angel Clarence Odbody. The main conflict in this film is that George is just not happy with his life. It seems that the bank he owns is going out of bussiness, his house isn't what he wants, and he married his wife after saying that he was NEVER going to get married. The life that George is living is not the life that he wanted. Then he gets a chance to see what the world would be like without him around. George's guardian angel magically takes George out of the world and shows him what he is missing.
The plot of this movie is definately make beleve their is just no way that someone's "guardian angel" can take them out of the world to show them how life would be without them. I am not saying that it wasn't a great film but realistically it is impossible.I really liked the dialouge in this movie because I feel that people always look at the negatives in there life and never the positives. In the movie the theme was that George's life seems to be getting worse and worse because it is from his point of view. After awhile you finally realize that it isn't cracked up that way.
The movie was made in a way that just showed us that people only focus on the negatives in their lifes. Its a heartfelt movie and the way they filmed it really proved it to the audience. When George Bailey isnt around it seems like everything is way worse for not only his family but the whole town. It just shows us that we never really realize how much of an impact we have on people. Like for example George married a beautiful lady named Mary, Mary did almost everything for him like a typically life in this genre would do. When he was not existing anymore he really realized his love for her. It just goes to show that counting your blessing does help.
I noticed alot of fade ins and outs, the movie was made this way on purpose because they wanted to show the different scenes and what was going on in the town without George Bailey. The effects in this film were nothing like the effects that we see in avatar but, they give you a warm feeling. I noticed that I was just cheering for George to realize that he is making a big mistake. Through the movie it is snowing. I think that the snow is trying to put a calming effect on the people who are watching it.I loved the acting in the movie George seemed like a real guy with real problems, his wife was madly in love with him and we could feel that. But the guardian angel just did'nt seem to real to me.
Personally the first thing that I noticed about this movie was how negative George Bailey is throughout the whole beginning it kind of makes me think twice about liking his character.I started to really enjoy the film when George started to become alot more grateful for the things that he was in his life. I seen a flinstones episode that copied the movies theme before so the whole movie was familiar to me. I think that A.F.I included this in their top 100 films because they knew how much of an impact it could have on someone who only thinks of the glass as "half empty". This movie is really inspirational to anyone that watches it.I recommended this movie to people who think that they have a terrible life because maybe after they watch it they'll see it's really not that bad.

Rocky(1976)
Rocky is the name of the game. I can't believe that I never seen this movie before! I mean I heard about it but a movie about this lame old boxer never seemed to appealing. But I really really thought it was a great movie. I loved that not only was it about his boxing career but it was also about how he feel in love; which makes this a great movie for both guys and girls. The main character in this movie was Rocky Balboa, Rocky is a debt collector as well as a boxer. Rocky always dreamed of making it big and finally gets his chance when heavy weight champ Apollo Creed asked Rocky to sub in for another boxer.
The main conflict in this movie is that Rocky isnt in shape, and he only has 5 weeks till the big fight. Now thats well and good for the guys who in joy a good fight, but for the girls that are stuck watching this movie they could really fall in love with it. While Rocky trains for the big match he falls in love with Adrian a shy yet beautiful pet shop employee. At first I thought what an awkward couple, they were so awkward. Ugh their first date seemed to be a mess but, by the end of the night they really kindle and it keeps the audience wanting more.
One symbol in the movie that I never seemed to understand was in the beginning of the movie, whenever I would see Rocky walking around alone he would be bouncing a ball. I guess the struck me as quite odd so I really focused on that. At first I thought that the mood of the story was going to be depressing eventually I realized I could'nt have been more wrong. Rocky had the thickest Italian American accent and referred to himself as the "Italian stallion". The movie takes place in Philadelphia and all the characters have a thick Philly accent. It seemed like everyone in that town mostly wore grungy clothes and a big jacket.
The acting in this movie made it seem so real. While I was watching the match I swear I felt like I was actually there watching the fight. I even for some reason felt like Rocky was real after I watched the movie. Thats how real it was!The plot of this movie was definately realistic because I felt it was more a documentary on a boxers life rather then a made up story. I went for a run today and the whole time I thought of the song that they played when Rocky was getting back into shape. The music in the movie made a big impact on it and I heard this song tons of times before I even seen the movie.
The first thing that I realized about the movie is the time it took place. I could tell it was during the 70's just because of the cars, the way people dressed, and the general enviroment.Rocky was included in the AFI top 100 because it keeps the attention of the audience and has a great plot. I would recommend this movie to any who loves both sides of a story. Love and action seem to play a major role in this film. So I would definately recommend it to those love birds out there. It's definately worth it.

Psycho My First Movie Review:)
I just got done watching my first movie and all I can say is "wow". Psycho by Albert Hitchcock is an old black and white movie that was filmed in 1960.At first when I seen that it was the only movie my dad had I thought of " HERE'S JOHNNY" which is not the movie that I was going to watch. This movie was nothing like what I thought it was going to be . For starters when I seen that it was in black and white my first thoughts were " God I cannot sit through such an old movie" as the movie went on my mind had no time to wonder at all. This had to be one of the creepiest movies I ever seen. I could not for one second take my eyes of the screen.
The first character that really caught my eye was Marion Crane she was a beautiful blonde haired lady in her late 20's or early 30's. Her character was really developed Marion had me going throughout the whole beginning of the movie she seemed screwed up and well psyco. Then their was Sam her boyfriend, Sam was tall and handsome he fit the role in this black and white movie perfectly. Norman is the motel owner that we meet later on in the movie, Norman is a timid man who seems more than innocent. When Marion and Sam meet you could tell that the roles of the characters were about to switch. Marion who at first seemed like the crazy one seemed to be allot more normal around Norman. The characters were casted incredibly, my dad told me that Albert Hitchcock ( the writer of this movie) was really into the art of a movie, every way the camera was angled was done on purpose and every little detail was used on purpose. The characters seemed like they were actually living this movie it was so real. I liked that each character in this film was unpredictable and I honestly didn’t know what to expect.
We began the movie with Marion the stunningly beautiful tall blonde women who had everything she wanted, a man that was willing to marry her, and a job that she had for a steady 10 years. One day she goes into work and a man comes in to buy a house bearing 40,000 dollars in cash. Marion takes the money and runs off with it. When she first went on the run I thought that Marion must of had a whole different life we had no clue about. On her journey to wherever she is deciding to go she stops, trades her car in, and gets a whole new one. She begins her journey again but by now its pouring out and dark so she goes to the nearest motel where she meets Norman Bates, before she goes to bed she takes a shower where she is stabbed repeatedly by a women. Norman gets rid of the body but their are plenty of people looking for Marion. Including a detective who also gets killed by a lady when he visits the hotel.
The obvious conflict in this movie is why this lady keeps killing these people for know reason. When the detective does not come back in an hour like he promises Marion's sister and boyfriend become noticeably anxious and decide to go to the motel themselves to inspect the place. Where they are almost killed but this time by Norman who we see was the one dressed up like a girl the whole time. What a crazy twist! I mean the whole time I thought it was his mother who apparently died long ago. Norman was so innocent throughout the whole beginning and the whole time I was worried about Marion doing something weird. The dialogue used in the movie seemed to be mischievous for a reason. I think that Albert Hitchcock purposely wanted us to keep our focus on crazy Marion when in fact all eyes should have been on Norman the innocent creature.
Psycho takes place in two different settings, it starts off in Phoenix, Arizona but then halfway through is brought to Los Angelos, California. The stage in this movie is very odd and everything is just angled weird and some parts to be honest dragged on a little longer then I thought was necessary. Little things in the movie really got to me like Marion’s eyes when she died, it seemed like there was purpose to why they were still open. I think every little detail in this movie might have been unnecessary but I also think that they had to have been meaningful. The music was perfect for this movie and I could recall the " reet reet reet!" as a very famous horror sound anyone could recognize. The lighting was amazing to because something about black and white really makes a movie extra scary. The costumes they all wore seemed misleading to me because I couldn’t really get who they were from their wardrobe. But then again when I seen Norman in women’s clothes with a knife I instantly figured out who he was. All in all this was a really good movie and I definitely recommend it to those who love a good horror.

But then again when I seen Norman in women’s clothes with a knife I instantly figured out who he was. All in all this was a really good movie and I definitely recommend it to those who love a good horror.

Day Two.
Here I am agian. Sitting in the same spot I was sitting in yesterday. Doing the same thing. I realized that blogging is not something I personally like to do. I would rather write down how I feel about something on a piece of paper. Well since this is a movie blog im going to have to express my true feelings on movies. Thats what I am going to do put I am not going to do that today so say tuned.
