Its a Wonderful Life.

So this is another black and white movie but, it was also a really good one. I can see myself watching this movie over and over again. The main characters in this movie is George Bailey, and his guardian angel Clarence Odbody. The main conflict in this film is that George is just not happy with his life. It seems that the bank he owns is going out of bussiness, his house isn't what he wants, and he married his wife after saying that he was NEVER going to get married. The life that George is living is not the life that he wanted. Then he gets a chance to see what the world would be like without him around. George's guardian angel magically takes George out of the world and shows him what he is missing.
The plot of this movie is definately make beleve their is just no way that someone's "guardian angel" can take them out of the world to show them how life would be without them. I am not saying that it wasn't a great film but realistically it is impossible.I really liked the dialouge in this movie because I feel that people always look at the negatives in there life and never the positives. In the movie the theme was that George's life seems to be getting worse and worse because it is from his point of view. After awhile you finally realize that it isn't cracked up that way.
The movie was made in a way that just showed us that people only focus on the negatives in their lifes. Its a heartfelt movie and the way they filmed it really proved it to the audience. When George Bailey isnt around it seems like everything is way worse for not only his family but the whole town. It just shows us that we never really realize how much of an impact we have on people. Like for example George married a beautiful lady named Mary, Mary did almost everything for him like a typically life in this genre would do. When he was not existing anymore he really realized his love for her. It just goes to show that counting your blessing does help.
I noticed alot of fade ins and outs, the movie was made this way on purpose because they wanted to show the different scenes and what was going on in the town without George Bailey. The effects in this film were nothing like the effects that we see in avatar but, they give you a warm feeling. I noticed that I was just cheering for George to realize that he is making a big mistake. Through the movie it is snowing. I think that the snow is trying to put a calming effect on the people who are watching it.I loved the acting in the movie George seemed like a real guy with real problems, his wife was madly in love with him and we could feel that. But the guardian angel just did'nt seem to real to me.
Personally the first thing that I noticed about this movie was how negative George Bailey is throughout the whole beginning it kind of makes me think twice about liking his character.I started to really enjoy the film when George started to become alot more grateful for the things that he was in his life. I seen a flinstones episode that copied the movies theme before so the whole movie was familiar to me. I think that A.F.I included this in their top 100 films because they knew how much of an impact it could have on someone who only thinks of the glass as "half empty". This movie is really inspirational to anyone that watches it.I recommended this movie to people who think that they have a terrible life because maybe after they watch it they'll see it's really not that bad.

Rocky(1976)

Rocky is the name of the game. I can't believe that I never seen this movie before! I mean I heard about it but a movie about this lame old boxer never seemed to appealing. But I really really thought it was a great movie. I loved that not only was it about his boxing career but it was also about how he feel in love; which makes this a great movie for both guys and girls. The main character in this movie was Rocky Balboa, Rocky is a debt collector as well as a boxer. Rocky always dreamed of making it big and finally gets his chance when heavy weight champ Apollo Creed asked Rocky to sub in for another boxer.
The main conflict in this movie is that Rocky isnt in shape, and he only has 5 weeks till the big fight. Now thats well and good for the guys who in joy a good fight, but for the girls that are stuck watching this movie they could really fall in love with it. While Rocky trains for the big match he falls in love with Adrian a shy yet beautiful pet shop employee. At first I thought what an awkward couple, they were so awkward. Ugh their first date seemed to be a mess but, by the end of the night they really kindle and it keeps the audience wanting more.
One symbol in the movie that I never seemed to understand was in the beginning of the movie, whenever I would see Rocky walking around alone he would be bouncing a ball. I guess the struck me as quite odd so I really focused on that. At first I thought that the mood of the story was going to be depressing eventually I realized I could'nt have been more wrong. Rocky had the thickest Italian American accent and referred to himself as the "Italian stallion". The movie takes place in Philadelphia and all the characters have a thick Philly accent. It seemed like everyone in that town mostly wore grungy clothes and a big jacket.
The acting in this movie made it seem so real. While I was watching the match I swear I felt like I was actually there watching the fight. I even for some reason felt like Rocky was real after I watched the movie. Thats how real it was!The plot of this movie was definately realistic because I felt it was more a documentary on a boxers life rather then a made up story. I went for a run today and the whole time I thought of the song that they played when Rocky was getting back into shape. The music in the movie made a big impact on it and I heard this song tons of times before I even seen the movie.
The first thing that I realized about the movie is the time it took place. I could tell it was during the 70's just because of the cars, the way people dressed, and the general enviroment.Rocky was included in the AFI top 100 because it keeps the attention of the audience and has a great plot. I would recommend this movie to any who loves both sides of a story. Love and action seem to play a major role in this film. So I would definately recommend it to those love birds out there. It's definately worth it.
